Ridgemont’s G1 winning stallion Potala Palace continues to churn out winners all over the country, and the son of Singspiel was at it again when Potala Palace had a winning double at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Wednesday afternoon.
His first success on Wednesday came when his three-year-old daughter Vathomvlaffie won the first race at Hollywoodbets Greyville. Under Rachel Venniker, the Potala Palace filly hit the front 100m from home and stayed on nicely to land the www.tabgold.co.za Maiden Plate (F&M) (1000m) by nearly two and a half lengths.
Trained by Corne Spies, Vathomvlaffie was bred by Corne Spies Racing (Pty) Ltd.
Vathomvlaffie is out of the Jay Peg mare Rippit Whippet and is thus bred on the same Potala Palace/Jay Peg cross as classy filly Red Palace.
Her sire struck again on Wednesday when Potala Palace gelding Circle Of Grace ran out a courageous winner of the fourth race, the Tabgold Score 6 Score 8 Score 10 MR 73 Handicap over 1800m.
Another trained by Corne Spies, the gelded three-year-old was given a perfectly judged ride by Marco Van Rensburg, with the latter forcing his mount’s head down where it mattered most to win by a short-head.
Bred by Hemel ‘N Aarde Stud, Circle Of Grace is out of the Trippi mare Girl’s Best Friend.
Sire of 2021 G1 SA Fillies Sprint winner Singforafa, multiple graded stakes winner Katak and this season’s G1 Hollywoodbets Cape Guineas runner up Red Palace, Potala Palace has two lots on offer at the upcoming National Yearling Sale.
