Exciting Ridgemont Highlands stallion Canford Cliffs scored a first stakes winner since taking up residence there when heavily supported East Cape raider Cliff Top started off the feature part of Saturday’s Kenilworth program by recording a comfortable win in the listed City Of Cape Town Summer Juvenile Stakes.
Alan Greeff’s maiden charge was backed from double figure odds earlier in the week to go off joint favourite at 4-1 and after always racing prominently took it up fluently a long way out.
He was never in danger of defeat after that, although Piet Steyn’s luckless We’re Jamming took off late to get within a length and a half and record his third runner up berth in succession.
Owned and bred by Ridgemont, Cliff Top is out of the one time winning Western Winter mare Baqueira.
