Ridgemont Highlands’ leading young stallion Rafeef continues to make headlines, and the G1 winning son of Redoute’s Choice was at it again at Saturday night’s Highveld Racing Awards ceremony, held at The Venue in Johannesburg.
Rafeef’s uber speedy son Master Archie, a member of his sire’s outstanding first crop, picked up two awards of Saturday night, with the Paul Peter trained colt named both Champion 3 Year Old Colt/Gelding and Champion Sprinter for the Highveld season just concluded.
One of two G1 winners to have emerged thus far from Rafeef’s first crop, Master Archie has won six of 11 starts thus far, with the flashy grey victorious in both the G1 Computaform Sprint and G3 World Sports Betting Man O’War Sprint (with another Rafeef son, Cleaver Greene, finishing second) this season.
Master Archie, who is out of the Var mare La Volta, has already earned in excess of R1 000 000.
His sensational sire Rafeef, the Leading First Season Sire in South Africa in 2020-2021, looks set to enjoy more success in the coming weeks, with Rafeef’s G1 WSB SA Derby winning son Aragosta an entry for Saturday’s G1 Daily News 2000, and his unbeaten daughter Who Do You Love among the entries for the upcoming Listed Perfect Promise Sprint.
