Ridgemont Highlands’ sensational sire Rafeef looks to have a pair of very exciting two-year-olds on his hands in the form of Thunderstruck and Glittering Girl, the brilliant winners of the first two races run at Turffontein on Sunday.
Trained by Paul Peter, Glittering Girl provided her G1 Computaform Sprint winning sire with a quick-fire two-year-old double when making a sensational debut to land Sunday’s Happy Mother’s Day Maiden Juvenile Plate (Fillies) (1160m).
Under log leading jockey Warren Kennedy, Glittering Girl justified strong pre-race betting support when she stormed home to win impressive by four lengths at the first time of asking.
Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Glittering Girl was a R500 000 buy from the 2021 August Two Year Old Sale.
Out of the Encosta De Lago mare Modern Muse, Glittering Girl’s granddam Modelliste was sired, like Rafeef, by the mighty Redoute’s Choice.
Glittering Girl is the seventh two-year-old winner for Rafeef this season thus far, with the son of Redoute’s Choice having had a truly outstanding season in 2021-2022.
Not only is Rafeef the sire of recent G1 Computaform Sprint (over 1000m) winner Master Archie, another of the stallion’s first crop sons, Aragosta, captured this season’s G1 World Sports Betting SA Derby over 2450m!
