Rafeef (Redoute’s Choice – National Colour)

Ridgemont Highlands’ sensational young sire Rafeef continues to impress, and enjoyed yet more success with his first-crop at the Vaal on Thursday.
His Ashley Fortune trained two-year-old daughter Bella Chica picked up her second win with a fluent performance over 1000 metres.
Under Gabriel Pieterse, Bella Chica raced just off the pace in the early stages of Thursday’s Tellytrack.com Juvenile Plate, and when asked the question, smartened up very quickly.
Despite drifting across the course, Bella Chica proved far too strong for her rivals and pulled right away to win by two and a half lengths.

Bred by Klawervlei Stud, Bella Chica has now won twice from six starts.
Out of the Captain Al mare War Path, Bella Chica looks a smart sort in the making, who won’t stop with this win.
She is one of ten first crop winners for Rafeef thus far, with the latter’s tally including BSA Cape Yearling Sale Cup winner Mounia and the likes of Ravensthorpe and Darjeeling.
A son of outstanding sire Redoute’s Choice (whose mighty son Snitzel continues to impress in Australasia), Rafeef won six of just ten starts including both the G1 Computaform Sprint and G2 Hawaii Stakes.
