A colt, from the immediate family of Ridgemont Highlands’ G1 winning and G1 producing sire Potala Palace, proved one of the star attractions at the first session of the 2021 Keeneland September Yearling Sale on Monday.
Sired by multiple champion sire Into Mischief, the Mt.Brilliant Farm consigned colt (Hip 177) was knocked down to Ron Winchell for $1.35 million on Monday.
The Feb. 14 foal is the first out of Superioritycomplex (Ire) (Hard Spun), a 400,000gns Tattersalls December purchase as part of the Ballymacoll Stud dispersal in 2017 who would go on to take a pair of allowances for Mt. Brilliant and Orrin Ingram the following season. His third dam is G1 Yorkshire Oaks heroine Hellenic (Darshaan), who in turn produced the great Islington (Ire) (Sadler’s Wells), with Hellenic’s fourth dam Country House (Vieux Manoir) ranking as the fifth dam of Potala Palace.

This is also the family of British classic winners Golan (Spectrum) and North Light (Danehill), with Country House herself directly descended from the great taproot mare Simons Shoes.
A son of Singspiel, Potala Palace won the G1 Premier’s Champion Stakes (beating subsequent champion sire Gimmethegreenlight) at two and the G3Joburg Spring Challenge at five.
To date, his best performers include G1 winning sprinter Singforafa and the brilliant, now Singapore based, Katak.
