Ridgemont Highlands’ sire sensation Rafeef made it two feature race winners in two days when his two-year-old son Mover And Shaker won the Bloodstock SA Sales Cup (C&G) (1300m) at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday.
Rafeef had earlier enjoyed feature race success at Fairview on Friday when his daughter Franca captured the Listed East Cape Breeders Stakes for Alan Greeff and Sandile Khathi.
His gelded son Mover And Shaker showed the benefits of a gelding operation and the addition of a tongue tie when he made much of the running to win Saturday’s R400 000 BSA Sales Cup in courageous fashion.
Under S’Manga Khumalo, the Fabian Habib trained two-year-old kept finding more in the closing stages of Saturday’s feature, and despite hanging badly in the closing stages, he held on to beat favourite Now I Got You by a neck.
Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Mover And Shaker, making his fourth career start on Saturday, was breaking his maiden when winning the 2022 Bloodstock SA Sales Cup (C&G).
Out of the Silvano mare B Twenty One, Mover And Shaker was a R400 000 buy from the 2021 August Two Year Old Sale.
He is one of a number of hugely promising two-year-olds representing Rafeef this season, with the son of Redoute’s Choice also sire of G1 Gold Medallion winner Thunderstruck, Listed TAB Perfect Promise Sprint winner Who Do You Love, G2 Heineken SA Nursery runner up Union Square and G1 Allan Robertson Championship second Glittering Girl.
