Ridgemont Highlands’ regally bred young stallion Malmoos hails from one of the very best families in the South African stud book, and he gained yet another boost to his pedigree when his relative Kimball O’Hara strolled to a facile win at Kenilworth on Tuesday afternoon.
Sixth on his only previous appearance, two-year-old Kimball O’Hara made no mistakes when he broke his maiden in the first race on Tuesday.
The Varsfontein Stud bred colt pulled many lengths clear of his rivals, before Kimball O’Hara drew off to score by six and a quarter lengths.
Out of the Fort Wood mare Secret Mission, Kimball O’Hara was a R775 000 purchase from the 2021 National Yearling Sale.
A full-brother to G2 Umkhomazi Stakes winner Hack Green, Kimball O’Hara’s dam is a winning full-sister to Prix du Cap winner Secret Heart -the dam of G2 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf winning sire Pluck.
Secret Mission also numbers champion Promisefrommyheart as a half-sister, with that daughter of Elliodor not only dam of boom sire Master Of My Fate, but also granddam of Ridgemont Highlands’ exciting new sire Malmoos (pictured below).
One of more than 100 stakes winners sired by multiple champion sire Captain Al, Malmoos won seven of his 12 starts with his five graded stakes victories including a clean sweep of the 2021 World Sports Betting Triple Crown.
