The Ridgemont Highlands Stud bred and owned Real Gone Kid confirmed his status as a leading contender for the G1 Cape Flying Championship (1000m) at the end of this month with a brilliant victory at Kenilworth on Saturday afternoon.
An impressive winner of his last three starts, the Brett Crawford trained chestnut was all the rage for Saturday’s Anthonij Rupert Wyne Pinnacle Stakes (1000m), with Real Gone Kid eventually jumping as the 2-10 tote favourite.
Under Anton Marcus, Real Gone Kid got off to a flyer, and the colt was never in serious danger after the field jumped.
Despite challenged late by 7-100 shot Mr Cobbs, Real Gone Kid cruised home to score by a deceptively easy three-parts of a length, with Mr Cobbs second, and former Equus Champion Sprinter Kasimir two lengths off the winner in third spot.

The regally bred Real Gone Kid claimed his fourth win in a row, and sixth from just ten starts, in a time of 57.81 seconds.
A colt by Arrowfield Stud’s four time Australian Champion Sire Snitzel (whose G1 SA Classic winning son Heavenly Blue has his first yearlings on sale this year), Real Gone Kid (a full-brother to useful filly Stiptelik) is one of two winners for the Jet Master sired mare In The Fast Lane. The latter, Equus Champion 3YO Filly in 2014, won five times, from 1400-2000m, including the G1 Cape Fillies Guineas and G1 Woolavington 2000.
