Five-Time G1-Winner Canford Cliffs

Ridgemont Highlands are delighted to announce that the top-class racemares Front And Centre and Takingthepeace have both, on Thursday night, foaled colts by the farm’s resident stallion, and five time G1 winner, Canford Cliffs.
It was a first foal for the blue-blooded Front And Centre, with Takingthepeace having foaled a colt by Canford Cliffs last year.
A daughter of Ridgemont Highlands’ late, great sire Dynasty (whose daughters are starting to make a big impression as broodmares), Front And Centre won or placed in ten of just 13 starts for earnings of over R1.448 million.
She won her first four races in a row, culminating in a triumph in the 2018 G1 World Sports Betting Fillies Guineas, where Front And Centre accounted for the subsequent G1 winners Silvano’s Pride, Clouds Unfold and Temple Grafin among others.

The daughter of Dynasty went on to finish third in the G1 Bidvest Majorca Stakes and runner up in both the G2 KRA Fillies Guineas and G1 Woolavington 2000, before she went on to claim the 2019 G3 Diana Stakes over a top-class field.
Out of the G3 placed Alzao mare Alignment, Front And Centre, a three-parts sister to the very smart Fortune Flies, is herself a half-sister to Ridgemont Highlands’ G1 winning, and G1 producing, sire Potala Palace, as well as to the dam of international graded stakes winners Excellent Result and Midnight Crossing.
This is the immediate family of English classic winners Golan and North Light, to name but two.

Takingthepeace, one of the most popular and charismatic racemares of her generation, earned over R1.754 million during a career which saw the daughter of Visionaire capture a trio of graded stakes races.
She won both the G1 Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Classic and G2 Wilgerbosdrift Gauteng Fillies Guineas at three, before going on to defeat male rivals in the 2018 G3 Victory Moon Stakes.
Among the notable runners beaten by Takingthepeace during her career were such graded one winners as Deo Juvente, French Navy, and Liege, as well as the high-class performers Folk Dance, Sabina’s Dynasty and Zouaves.

By the same sire as champion Good Traveller, Takingthepeace is out of the smart Lisa Anne -who finished second in the G3 Sycamore Sprint and third in the G1 Empress Club Stakes.
“To have two Grade 1 performing mares both foal down exceptional Canford Cliffs colts in the same evening was very exciting for the Farm – not only do both colts hail from exceptional racing parentage but also outstanding pedigrees,” enthused Craig Kieswetter.
“That is the holy grail of breeding – to be able to have smashing foals bred from world class pedigrees and racing records. Both foals are very correct with good bone and already have that aura around them at 24hrs old. Both colts hail from parents that in all won an unbelievable 11 Graded Races – with 7 of those being Grade/Group 1!”
