Ridgemont Highlands’ exciting young stallion Rafeef supplied a pair of winners at the Vaal on Tuesday, with Master Archie and William Robertson becoming Rafeef’s 12th and 13th first crop winners respectively.
Third and second on his first two starts respectively, the Paul Peter trained Master Archie simply hacked up when he won Tuesday’s first race, Welcome To Vaal Work Riders Maiden Plate (1000m).
Under Phenisile Mongqawa, the Rafeef colt drew off the closing stages to score by seven and a half lengths.
Bred by owners Messrs Vasan Harry & S A Hanna in partnership with Adam Azzie, Master Archie is out of the Var mare La Volta.

Rafeef made it a quickfire double when his Ridgemont Highlands bred two-year old son William Robertson ran out a convicing winner of Tuesday’s second race, the All To Come Maiden Juvenile Plate (1200m).
Third on his only previous start, the Corne Spies trained colt was always up with the pace and when Ryan Munger asked him the quesetion, William Robertson quickened up and went away to win by three-parts of a length.
Out of the Trippi mare Massachusetts, William Robertson was a R500 000 buy from the 2020 National 2YO Sale.
His dam, a three-time winning own sister to CTS Million Dollar winner Illuminator, has a full-brother to William Robertson entered for the August Two Year Old Sale.
South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire for 2020-2021 by both individual winners and stakes won, Rafeef is currently high up on the Leading Sires of 2YOs log for the current season, and ranks higher than the likes of Var, Trippi, Captain Of All and Master Of My Fate on that premiership.
The G1 winning son of Redoute’s Choice has three lots on the CTS Farm Yearling Sale, and a further nine lots on the KZN Yearling Sale.
